Wecan Food Basket Society

Hi everyone! If you are interested in getting fresh fruit, vegetables or meat more than 25% cheaper than at the grocery store, then you should take a look at the Wecan Food Basket Society

To take part, you simply buy a $5 annual membership to join Wecan. Then each month you can order a food basket. There are three different kinds of orders available:
Fresh Meat $12
Fresh Produce (fruit & vegetables) $8
Meat and Produce $20

A TYPICAL $20.00 FOOD BASKET CONSISTS OF:
MEATS
1 kg Beef or Pork Roast
1/2 kg Chicken Thighs
1/2 kg Lean Ground Beef

FRUITS
1 kg Apples
1 kg Bananas
1 kg Oranges

VEGETABLES
2 lb bag of Carrots
1 Bunch of Broccoli
1 kg Potatoes
This would cost almost $30 at a grocery store!

The way it works is you place an order by the first Friday of every month. Then at the end of the month you go to a depot (located at churches, community halls, daycares, and tenant centres) and pick up your basket. You can get a basket once every month. The depots are all located on or near bus stops.

The Food Basket program is open to everyone because we all have a right to proper nutrition at an affordable price. This means you don't need to fit any criteria; EVERYONE can take part.
